"It's like a feeling you get."
She looked at me expecting me to say something intelligent, and I knew that she would instantly be disappointed.
"I know you're going to look at me like I'm dumb," I told her, "or as if I'm going to provide you with substantial evidence, but I can't. I don't know if I ever will. It's just a feeling deep inside."
"Like love?" she asked me, tilting her head to the side.
"Yeah, exactly. Like love. Like you don't see it, but you know it's there. So the same way I know that you're here when you're not physically here, that's how I know. Almost instinctively."
"And what if you're wrong?"
Her words just echoed.
